Attendance Policy
According to school board rules, excused school absences are for the following reasons:

1. Student illness
2. Medical appointment
3. Death in family
4. Observance of a religious holiday
5. School-sponsored event or activity previously approved.
6. Court appointments

School Supply Requirements
All students are required to have the following school supplies for the upcoming school year:

• Student Agenda Book (purchased through Highland Oaks Middle for $4.00)
• Vocabulary Text (purchased through Highland Oaks Middle for $4.00)
• Team T-Shirt (purchased through Highland Oaks Middle for $2.00)
• PE Uniform ( purchased through Highland Oaks Middle for $16.00 – if on your schedule)
• Novels to be selected by the Language Arts Department - $5.00 each – from 2 – 4 novels per year.
• 3-Ring Binder
• Loose –leaf paper (wide)
• 3 packages of dividers
• 3 – hole pencil case that should include a minimum of 2 pencils, 2 blue or black ink pens, an eraser, a small pencil sharpener, and a small ruler.
• Highlighters: pink, yellow, green, orange, blue
• Index cards: 3 x 5
• Graph paper
• Composition Notebook (black & white)
• 12 inch ruler (metric and standard)

Recommended: a book bag (wheeled book bags are discouraged, except for medial reasons), 3-hole punch, and a red pen. 

The following items are not permitted:

• White-out or felt tip markers

Individual teachers will supplement the supply list with other more specific requirements.
